Implementing the Plan
The success of any planning process is implementation. Pastoral Plans are only helpful if they help us move towards action on behalf of mission.
Implementing a Pastoral Plan requires the the Parish Pastoral Council take on a role of empowerment by calling forth gifts and mentoring new leaders.
The Office of Pastoral Planning, in collaboration with the Office of Stewardship and Development, has developed an Implementation Guide to assist Parish Pastoral Council in this all-important step of Implementation.

Evaluation of the Plan
Evaluation completes the process of pastoral planning. It is the responsibility of the Parish Pastoral Council to hold all activities of the parish accountable to the mission of the parish. Therefore, a six-month and one-year evaluation of the plan should be undertaken by the council to access if the objectives are being implemented, if the designated leaders or leadership groups have adequate resources and assistance, and if the objectives and goals are still relevant to the local situation.
Verbal reports on the progress and outcome of the implementation are helpful, but a final written summary is more beneficial. Implementers should have an opportunity to share their experience, do some analysis of what was effective and what was not, and to make suggestions for next steps. Those involved in the implementation, both leaders and participants, are asked for their evaluation and advice for the next steps. This advice is essential when creating the objectives for the following year.
Finally, a celebration of accomplishments is important. This celebration not only recognizes the service of others, but also acknowledges the good work of the entire parish. This is the final phase of the implementation and should not be overlooked.
