I notice that no comments have been posted since last year. I wish to comment about Implementation of Parish Ministries. We want to start a Hospitality Ministry. In the Bishop\'s Letter sent in October, 2007,he stated that a pilot program in some Parishes would begin and other Parishes would reap the benefits from this in the Fall of 2008. Are there any Parishes that have a good Hospitality Ministry currently?
Would you share with us what you do, how you got started, recruited, and trained persons interested. Do you use any materials or videos? We\\\'d like to reap the benefits now from other Parishes who have this going well.
Thanks for your ideas.

Hello OLC,
Yes there is a pilot program going on now- pastors were asked if they wanted to participate and five parishes were chosen with the understanding that if successful, we will pass it on to additional parishes. A consultant from Rochester who is working with the Vicariate developed the program. We can certainly talk more about what he\\\'s doing and how it can be implemented elsewhere. (call me)
I\\\'m really hoping some of those involved will post here. Any takers???

PS- While not many people are posting, we do check here every day, and we do notice that people are looking- just not posting. Interesting...
PPS- Thanks for starting the new thread! -

As part of our pastoral plan we are forming three committees: one on communication, one on hospitality, and one on the liturgy. We have invited a small number of people to form these committees, but have not yet scheduled any meetings. We\'ve been having a parish lenten renewal and have wanted to complete that first.

To Jenny,
Thanks for sharing. I hope you have a good rsponse to your call for people to serve. If you have any ideas on Hospitality, please share them.
We also want to form a Liturgy Group. So far, we have 4 persons. Had a good Lenten Penance Service
and hope to have a Celebration of Family Day coming up soon.
Getting persons who can implement...whohave both time and desire...seems to be a
great challenge.!

Greetings to all,
At the Parish Assembly of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, Forest Hills, Community stood out among the Seven Elements of Vibrant Parish Life. We received over two hundred comments related to this element many of which were tied to gathering as one for worship, coming together in mutual support, service and hospitality.
Recognizing that Community, Worship and Service harmonize in the act of welcoming people in preparation for the Mass, the formation of a hospitality ministry is our first goal. The importance of hospitality is affirmed in our Mission Statement, \"We are one parish family seeking to be the welcoming and warm presence of Jesus Christ to the diverse peoples of the area.\"
Regards implementation, we have an allergy to reinventing the wheel (a sneeze is coming on) so it\'s exciting to learn that five parishes are selected and there is an expert working with the Vicariate. (a great antidote for our allergy).
