This discussion is for PPC members or implementers to share their concerns or ideas about implementing the Parish Pastoral Plans.
If you are interested, Ellen or I would be happy to come to your cluster and gather together PPC members and implementers to brainstorm strategies on how to implement the plans -

If you have any suggestions on how we can motivate without pressure the Implementers who are plodding along. How to encourage others to \"lend a hand\" to help Implementers with specific objective? Seems like people have limited time to give that extra energy to get a task done.
Do you have any good ideas? Any planning tips when organizing a Parish event, like Soup Supper, or International Festival? We have had these events before but we\'d like to make it different instead of the same old, same old, so people will want to participate. Ideas welcome. -

Hi Liz,
One idea that I have seen work well is a \"Help Wanted\" section of the bulletin. In this section, there are postings of very specific volunteer opportunities with a brief overview of the tasks involved and the time commitment.
The idea is that people who are looking to get involved want to have a sense of exactly what is being asked of them and what the time commitment will be. So, put it right out there. This is what needs to be done and how much time it will take.

Bob,
Thanks for th tips. We do run Bulletin ads for persons to implement. Either the Bulletin is not read by many or we do not put out the call in a way that draws.
With the economy the ways it is now, people are in a bind and might be holding down a second job or putting in extra hours. The little time left...seems to be dedicated to family or R&R.
If we run a \"Help Wanted\" message, readers may think it\'s a pay job????
Keep the ideas coming...

Liz,
LOL, offering stipends is not a bad idea. Just kidding.
I believe however we advertise, it needs to be bitesize - opportunties for people where they can easily contribute at convienant and/or flexible times.
Especially with parishioners who are working more and have less time to contribute, we need to find ways to make it easier.
Help Wanted would sort of be a way to draw attention to these bitesize requests.
I will keep thinking and listening

Greetings all,
At Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, Forest Hills, we formed a Stewardship Committee. This group recently launched the, All is Gift, All is Given campaign featuring several innovative approaches to create awareness and build engagement with the faithful of the parish.
Responding to one of our Objectives, we produced a video clip now featured on YouTube and on our website welcome page: http://www.ourladyqueenofmartyrs.org
The clip ends with a \'call to action\' We presented the video at all Masses and recently held a Parish Expo (our third). Over one hundred people signed up to learn more about or become actively involved in various ministries from altar service and youth ministry to senior club.
