My parish is planning for the Parish Assembly in mid to late May. Anyone have some creative ideas to share that worked for advertising your Parish Assembly? -

Hi Maggie,
Although there are a ton of ideas for advertising the parish assembly within the parish, many people overlook the possibility of advertising in the neighborhood. You might consider putting an ad in your local or neighborhood newspaper and posters on telephone poles and store windows always catch the eye. Who knows, you might attract some people that you have not seen in a while.
Good Luck,

Hi Maggie,
During the planning of our Parish Assembly, the members of our PPC announced in the pulpit in all the Masses the Parish Assembly meeting invitation for two consecutive weeks. We also asked our ministry leaders to announce the invitation by word of mouth. We also posted notices in church entrance/exit doors. This was effective in reaching out our parishioners. Hope this helps in your publicity.
Good Luck,

There are lots of cheap ways to personalize give aways. Companies like Oriental Trading can put the assembly date on almost anything- pencils, mints, mugs... I just visited St Francis/St. Blaise and they had invitations printed on balloons to give to parishioners!
just a thought... -

Another idea..Catalog from Monastery Icons has printable holy cards. They come in sheets of 12 with perforated sections. You run them through your printer and print what you want on the back.
They are $12.95 for 12 sheets with 8 cards per sheet =96. Choice of four pictures. Call 1-800-969-1251 for Catalog or go to www.monasteryicons.com -

We were also thinking of issuing a press release to the neighboring newspapers - not just an ad per se. Anyone have experience with this that they care to share? -

I am currently drafting an article for our monthly bulletin trying to describe the parish assembly and explaining why they should come. It dawned on me that people all over the diocese are doing or already have done the same thing. I figure why recreate the wheel? Does anyone have published articles describing the same that they would be willing to share? -

We have a few samples here in the office that parishes have sent us. Not many, but give us a call. And please, any parishes that have sample bulletin inserts out there, send them on. We can all share the wealth!!! -

If anyone else is currently publicizing for their Parish Assembly, here's an idea. We are getting small packets of jelly beans to give out at Easter with a sticker on them advertising the parish assembly date. -

Hi Maggie,
I'm on the Publicity Committee and here are some of the things we did at Visitation's we announced the date at every Mass, and I took pix of the members and Fr. Carlos placed them on a bulletin board for the entire congregation to see and know who we are...that helps also. -

Ellalou,
The OLF website looks great! I am looking forward to the next installment. If you get a chance check out St. Anastasia's site. I just found out about it myself.

If I find more I will post them.

In our Parish Bulletin we have a Weekly space titled, PPC CORNER. We e-mail the text to Parish Secretary a few weeks ahead. This helps us to connect with Parishioners and give updates. This Sunday we have posted this prayer, asking all to join us in prayerful support as we carry out Pastoral Planning.
June 24th
Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) CORNER
PRAYER FOR PARISH VISIONING
Your prayers are requested by the Parish Pastoral Council. Help us by your prayerful support. We, like Mary united in prayer with the Apostles in the Cenacle on Pentecost, seek to be renewed by the Holy Spirit. Parish renewal flows from prayerful Parishioners.
Please join us in this prayer:
Lord Jesus, anoint us to do your will. May the joy of your dwelling in us draw us closer to each other. Expand our vision to recognize your plan; warm our hearts by the flame of your Love; open our lips so that we can speak your Word; extend our arms so that we can embrace each other as your people; speak to us so we can discern the role you have for us, your Body, your Church. Fill us with your Holy Spirit, empowering us to become vital expressions of growth in your changing church. Your Kingdom is now! Help us to discover and live your will. Amen.
